Port Blair, March 15: The Hon’ble Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM today released a book titled ‘The Jadwet Saga’ in presence of the First Lady of these Islands, Smt Bhawanee Singh at a function held at Raj Niwas. The book is the autobiography of Late Hajee Cassim Mohamed Jadwet, one of the founders of Jadwet business in the Islands. |
Speaking on the occasion, the Lt Governor complimented the Jadwet family for getting the book published in which Late Hajee C. M. Jadwet had penned downed the faithful account of his experience in the Islands spreading over more then five decades. Referring to the close association the Jadwet family has with the people of the Islands, particularly Nicobar, he said that the contribution of Jadwet family in the economic progress and development of the Islands is remarkable. The book, he said will also inspire others to write about different aspects of the history of the Islands. |
In his address, the former-Member of Parliament, Shri Manoranjan Bhakta shared his experience and association with Hajee Cassim Mohamed Jadwet. |
| The Deputy Chief Captain, Car Nicobar, Shri C. Paul and Shri Rashid Marlin from Nancowrie also spoke about the legacy of Jadwet family and their contribution in the progress and development of Car Nicobar and Nancowrie. Earlier, Shri Salim Jadwet, Son of C. M. Jadwet welcomed the chief guest and others while Shri Hasim Jadwet, Grandson of C. M. Jadwet proposed the vote of thanks. |
